Jajja's Kids Virtual Event
Virtual event this Wednesday evening, Dec. 9th at 7:30 pm ET. It is the premiere of a new video... Journey to Uganda with Jajja's Kids! Instead of the in-person fall event that Jajja's Kids has held for the last 8 years, we are instead bringing Uganda and Jajja's Kids to you! We are so excited to share this 31 minute video with you, and hope you can join us! You will find the event by clicking here. And here's a short preview of what you'll see Wednesday evening: https://vimeo.com/487854778 For more information and another link to the event, go to our website at www.jajjaskids.org
Charitable Contributions Survey
Every year, RPCVs of NENY raises funds so that we can do charitable contributions at the end of the year. We typically donate to organizations that do important work on a local, national and international level. At our December meeting, members nominated organizations to receive donations. This online survey has been created so that all members can vote on which organizations and how much to give. Last year, we donated $300 each to Women of Change, Zion Hills, MoonCatcher Project, Borgen Project, Jajja’s Kids, and Freedom from Fistula. This year, the organizations in the survey were nominated to received donations. The pandemic did change our normal fundraising expectations this year although we did raise a good amount of funds. Reviewing our current finances and budget needs for expenses next year, the executive committee recommends giving a maximum of $1,500 this year. Please submit your answers only once. All are confidential. This online survey will be active until December 23, 2020.
If you have any questions, please email rpcvneny@gmail.com

StorySpot
StorySpot is a unique new web-app, started by a RPCV, that gives people an easy-to-use tool to capture and share stories about themselves or other people who they love. People can gift the StorySpots that they make on birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and other special occasions. They can also send them to the future as a sort of digital time-capsule. Imagine a person 50 years from now being able to view your StorySpot and see who you were, how you lived, and who/what you loved, where you served. StorySpot is both a place to preserve memories and a unique online gifting platform. Here are some RPCV StorySpot examples for you to check out for inspiration. In the future, our group could use this web-app as a fundraiser and provide a discount for RPCVs of NENY members. In the mean time, feel free to check it out and see if you want to share your story.
January Virtual Meeting
RPCVs of NENY will have its virtual January meeting on January 5 at 7 pm. At this meeting, we will discuss some group business for the new year and there will be a presentation by Kadambari Narendran on the organization, Kai Rassi. More information to come on that soon.
