Programs and Speakers

RPCVs of NENY normally has a meeting every month (typically on the second Tuesday). At these meetings, the members discuss business items and then there is a presentation on a topic, organization, project or important work being done locally, nationally or internationally. Recent RPCVs will give presentations at the meetings and share their Peace Corps experience. Members of RPCVs of NENY give presentations on current projects and organizations that they are involved in and founded. RPCVs of NENY also organizes events/programs other than the monthly meetings. These can include fundraisers for specific projects, RPCV panels for college students, summer picnics for RPCVs and family, welcome home/send off events for PCVs, RPCVs and soon-to-be PCVs.   • RPCVs from the CDC-Atlanta Malaria Branch and CDC-Atlanta Global Rapid Response Team for COVID-19 and a RPCV who is a UAlbany MPH and infectious disease nurse spoke about being on the frontline of COVID-19
  • Presentation on the current challenges facing international students during COVID-19 by RPCV Michael Elliott, PhD, Director of International Student and Scholar Services at the Center for International Education and Global Strategy at UAlbany
  • RPCV panel at UAlbany’s Peace Corps Prep “Global Career Networking” event at UAlbany
  • Kadambari Narendran, creator of Kai Rassi, which creates vocational art programmes and spaces for differently-abled artists, helping them make, market and earn an income from their original artworks. https://www.kairassi.com/
